Installing Konkat
Install the Konkat app on a Frappe v15 bench, with or without ERPNext, and open it for the first time.
On this page
Konkat is a Frappe v15 app. You install it on a Frappe bench like any other Frappe app — on its own site, or on a site that already runs ERPNext. This article is for the person who looks after the server.
What you need#
- A working Frappe v15 bench (Python 3.10 or newer) with a site. ERPNext is not required. If the site already has ERPNext v15, Konkat installs alongside it without touching ERPNext data — see Konkat and ERPNext.
- wkhtmltopdf — used by Frappe for PDFs. Standard bench installs already have it; Konkat’s Reports need it.
- Shell access as the bench user (often
frappe), and a backup of the site before you start. - For installing on phones and offline copies: an https:// address. You can add this later — see HTTPS and app install.
Install steps#
The commands below are examples. Replace <site> with your site name (for example erp.sunrisebuilders.in) and run them from the bench folder (for example ~/frappe-bench).
- Back up the site —
bench --site <site> backup --with-files - Get the app — from a Git repository:
bench get-app <konkat-repository-url>. Or from a release zip: unzip it so that the folderapps/konkatexists (it containspyproject.tomland akonkatfolder), then runbench get-app ./apps/konkator install it into the bench’s Python with./env/bin/pip install -e apps/konkatand add a linekonkattosites/apps.txt. - Install it on the site —
bench --site <site> install-app konkat - Migrate —
bench --site <site> migrate - Clear the cache —
bench --site <site> clear-cache - Restart —
bench restart(on a production setup; in development, restartbench start). - Make sure the scheduler runs —
bench --site <site> enable-scheduler. Konkat’s daily “confirm materials” reminders need it.
You do not need bench build. Konkat has no build step: the app page at /konkat reads its own Vue, CSS and screen files and puts them into one page.
What the installer sets up#
- A role called Konkat User (no desk access). Every person you add from Konkat’s People screen gets it.
- Konkat Settings with defaults: company name “Konkat”, floor 0 called Stilt with the short label S, a 5-day material reminder and a 7-day “Plan for next” window.
- A library of ready-made templates, standard worker types, standard materials and units of measure, and estimate recipes.
- An owner profile for the Administrator account so the app opens straight away.
These steps run again on every migrate, but they never overwrite settings or records you have changed.
First sign-in#
- Open the app — go to
https://<site>/konkat(orhttp://if you have not set up HTTPS yet). - Sign in as Administrator — with the site’s Administrator password.
- Create people — People → New person for the real owner (Account type Owner) and your team, each with an email and a first password.
- Create the first project — Projects → New project. See Create a project.
- Add the team — Project setup → Team. See Team and people.
Use the Administrator account only for setup. It can see every project, even ones it is not on. Day-to-day, owners should sign in with their own login.
Optional: company name and floor 0#
- The company name appears on report cover pages, purchase orders and the installed app’s name. Set it as Administrator in the Frappe desk under Konkat Settings (
/app/konkat-settings). - What floor 0 is called (Stilt, Ground…) is set in the app on the Projects screen under Floor names.
Check that it works#
- The left menu shows your name and a build number at the bottom.
- A test person you created can sign in at
/konkatand sees only the projects they are on. - Reports → Open PDF produces a PDF. If not, check wkhtmltopdf.
- On https, More → Install Konkat on this phone offers to install.
Common questions#
Can I install Konkat on several sites of the same bench?#
Yes. Run install-app for each site. Each site has its own projects, people and settings.
Where do photos and drawings go?#
They are stored as private Frappe files on the site, so they are included in backup --with-files.
